Dear Parishioners,
By the time you are reading this letter, I will be in the middle of the pilgrimage with the Bishop to Spain and Italy. Here are the highlights of the trip. I hope you have been able to follow some of it through our facebook posts.
- Tuesday, October 11: Land in Madrid Spain; drive to Toledo; celebrate Mass in the evening with the Archbishop of Toledo
- Wednesday, October 12: Tour the Old Towne of Toledo and visit the El Greco Museum.
- Thursday, October 13: Celebrate Mass in Madrid's Cathedral; visit the Prado museum.
- Friday, October 14: Visit Avila, Spain, home of Saint Teresa of Avila. Visit Segovia and the tomb of Saint John of the Cross.
- Saturday, October 15: Fly to Rome; take a bus to Assisi for dinner and overnight.
- Sunday, October 16: celebrate Mass in the church of Saint Francis of Assisi, visiting his tomb; visit the church and incorrupt body of Saint Claire of Assisi.
- Monday, October 17: Visit the Monastery of Saint Benedict in Norcia, his birthplace. Holy Mass and lunch with the monks of this Monastery.
- Tuesday, October 18: On the way to Rome, stop in Orvietto, visiting its famous Cathedral with the stained corporal from a miracle of the Eucharist.
- Wednesday, October 19: Attend the papal audience at St. Peter's Square; then tour the North American College, home to United States seminarians studying in Rome.
- Thursday, October 20: Visit a few of the major basilicas of Rome, as well as the Holy Stairs, and one of the catacombs.
- Friday, October 21: Visit the town of Castel Gandolfo, summer home of the popes. Celebrate Mass at the local town church.
- Saturday, October 22: celebrate Holy Mass at the tomb of Pope Saint John Paul II, on this, his feastday; tour the Vatican Museums and the Sistine chapel. Celebrate the eighth anniversary of Bishop Thomas' installation as the ordinary of the Diocese Toledo.
- Sunday, October 23: Depart from Rome's Fumicino Airport to return home.
