Dear Parishioners,

On a couple occasions in the past I have given you a couple poems of Jessica Powers (pen name for Carmelite Sister Miriam of the Holy Spirit, who died in 1988). Here's one on angels. She writes about God's throne in the secret of her soul. We know that angels encircle God's throne in heaven, worshiping Him. Well, imagine angels worshiping God, surrounding His throne wherever they see Him enthroned, even the little throne in the human soul that is dedicated to the Lord. The person enthroning God in his or her heart would then be walking in a cloud of angels. With that in mind, here's another beautiful poem to help you realize that angels are surrounding you, as you enthrone God in your heart.

In a Cloud of Angels

I walk in a cloud of angels.

God has a throne in the secret of my soul.

I move, encircled by light,

blinded by glowing faces,

lost and bewildered in the motion of wings,

stricken by music too sublime to bear.

Splendor is everywhere.

God is always enthroned in the cherubim,

circled by seraphim.

Holy, holy, holy,

wave upon wave of endless adoration.

I walk in a cloud of angels that

worship Him.

Have a blessed week!

In cordibus Iesu, Mariae et Iosephus,

Father Poggemeyer
