Dear Parishioners,

In previous bulletin letters I informed you that we no longer have the volunteer-power to keep funeral luncheons happening. I expressed great gratitude to the Rosary Altar Society for the many, many years of service at funeral luncheons. Another Rosary Altar Society service for many years has been care for and purchase of the sacristy items of the church: the altar cloths, the towels, the purificators, Communion hosts, etc. Those two services – the funeral luncheons and care for/purchase of sacristy items – have always been connected, because the Rosary Altar Society made a modest profit from the funeral luncheons. The Society put these profits towards sacristy supplies when they saw the need. Now that there are no longer to be funeral lunches of the Rosary Altar Society, the question was raised about how to cover the sacristy costs. The solution suggested by the Rosary Altar Society is an envelope in the collection envelope packet that is specifically designated for sacristy supplies. We have decided to add this envelope in May.

The Rosary Altar Society has always had another source of income that helped as well: that is their annual dues. That envelope is already in the collection envelope packet, and it will stay there. All ladies of the parish are automatically members of the Rosary Altar Society. I know the Society would love to have more volunteers for their services. Please contact Jane Vande Kerkhoff for more information.

May all of your Christmas preparations in this final week be filled with joy (and efficiency!). Have a blessed week!

In cordibus Iesu, Mariae et Iosephus,

Father Poggemeyer
