Dear Parishioners,

It's that time of the year again, the time to ask the Lord if there is somebody in your circle of relationships who would benefit from going through the Rescue Project, or somebody who is ready to consider coming into the Catholic Church, or somebody who has been baptized in the Church, but never completed the other Sacraments of Initiation. Contact Jessica Pehmoeller with any questions. As you can see, the new storage building is coming along quite nicely. It was amazing to watch how quickly the cement footers and knee wall were put in! I'm writing this letter a week early, as usual, so who knows how far the building will be by the time you are reading this. My hunch is that some basic framing might even have begun.

The central monument at the cemetery is also coming along quite well. On the day I'm writing this letter, all of the stone has been attached to the façade of the monument. The design of the base of the monument will match the pillars at the entrances of the cemetery. Right now we are waiting on refurbishment of the cross. I'm confident that this will also be much more beautiful than the current cross, which was dented and patched in several places, and even ripped down one seam. We are keeping the cross the same color, however. It will just be new material that will look more beautiful.

On a final note, we are installing a bike rack outside the East doors of the gathering space. This is because summer weather this year brought out a number of bikes – people riding to Mass or to other parish activities. In some cases, the bikes were stored in the gathering space, or even in the foyers between the external and internal doors. The problem is that fire code prohibits us from having any obstacles in the foyers, in case there would be some emergency that required people to exit quickly. And storing the bikes in the gathering space can also be problematic for flow of traffic into the connected areas, such as the parish hall. Of course, it makes sense that nobody wants a bike stolen, which is a possibility if it is left outside and unattached. So, we hope that the bike rack can serve bikers who need to store the bike somewhere safe. The bike rack is located under the building's canopy, so that is some protection from rain. If a person brings a lock, the bike can be locked to the bike rack, and that prevents from burglary. Even if a locked bike were somehow stolen from the rack, there is a security camera at the East entrance that will help us find the culprit and retrieve the bike.

Have a blessed week!

In cordibus Iesu, Mariae et Iosephus,

Father Poggemeyer
