Cantors/Psalmists

Cantors lead the faithful in singing at all weekend Masses, holydays, weddings, funerals, and special liturgies when no other musical group is present. Their primary function at Mass is that of the psalmist: proclaiming the Responsorial Psalm from Sacred Scripture. Cantors sing at intervals that vary based on the season and on the supply of cantors at any given time, typically anywhere from monthly to weekly depending on their availability. The ministerial role of the cantor is one which is held in high regard and importance by the Second Vatican Council. Each cantor practices on his/her own and then rehearses with the keyboardist assigned for the Mass in question the week before he/she sings.

Parish Choir

The Parish Choir leads the faithful in song and worship at the 11:00 AM Mass on the first and third Sundays of each month. The choir also sings on most holydays and special events (Forty Hours, Christmas, and Holy Week Cantatas) from September through Corpus Christi. Repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary choral pieces. Membership is open to men and women of high school age and older. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings September through May from 6:30-8:00 PM in the Saint Cecilia Music Room in the Parish Life Center.

Contemporary Ensemble

The Contemporary Ensemble is a group that gives a contemporary flair to the music of the Church. The group leads the faithful in song for the 11:00 AM Mass on the second and fourth Sundays September through May. They also lead the faithful in song on select holydays and special liturgies (Forty Hours, Encounter the Heart of Jesus, etc.) from September through Corpus Christi. The ensemble is comprised of vocalists, guitarists, piano, and other instruments such as flute or clarinet. Rehearsals are usually held on the on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 PM during the ensemble's season in the Saint Cecilia Music Room in the Parish Life Center.

Memorial Choir

The Memorial Choir ministers to the bereaved of our parish family through singing at funerals and the annual All Souls’ Day Memorial Mass. All parishioners are welcome to join the Memorial Choir. Since most funerals are during the week, this is a great opportunity for those who are retired to minister. If new or complex music is being presented at a funeral, a rehearsal may be held about 45-60 minutes before the funeral. The Memorial Choir also recites the Rosary 30 minutes prior to each funeral.
