The National Eucharistic Revival

What exactly is it and why the need for it?
Here is an explanation from the NER’s website (www.eucharisticrevival.org/faqs): “The National Eucharistic Revival is a three year initiative sponsored by the Bishops of the United States to inspire and prepare the People of God to be formed, healed, converted, united, and sent out to a hurting and hungry world through a renewed encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist – the source and summit of our Catholic faith. The Revival officially launched in June 2022, and its milestone event will be a National Eucharistic Congress in 2024. The National Eucharistic Revival and National Eucharistic Congress are a direct response to the Holy Father’s call for a “pastoral and missionary conversion which cannot leave things as they presently are” so that the Church in the United States might be ‘permanently in a state of mission’ (Evangelii Gaudium, n. 25).” With the challenges stemming from the pandemic and many people not returning to the pews, the need to deepen belief in the true presence is essential. Less than 30% of Catholics believe that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. Many people now also think that online “worship” can replace being physically in the church. This is not the case! As Jesus comes to us in a Sacrament (a visible and tangible sign of an invisible reality), we must be physically present with Him, whether we receive Him or not. Likewise, the reason we are truly brothers and sisters in Christ is because we receive from the “one loaf and the one chalice” (see 1 Corinthians 10:16-17). Let us look for ways to deepen our faith in His real presence! One of those ways takes place tonight at JBC—come to Him. He is waiting for you!
