Eucharistic Adoration

O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial of your Passion, grant us, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption.
Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
~Collect for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi~

This Collect, which is the opening prayer for the Mass of Solemnity of Corpus Christi, is also used each time for the celebration of benediction. As last week we concluded the Bread of Life Discourse and have hopefully grown in love of the Eucharist, I wanted to highly encourage everyone to come spend time with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Our parish has many opportunities to adore our Lord.

—On Tuesdays, adoration goes from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Thursdays, adoration goes from 5:00 AM to 6:45 at which point benediction takes place. All are invited to sign up for an hour or stop in at any time throughout the day!

—On each first Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM, we have the opportunity to pray Vespers (Evening Prayer) from the Liturgy of the Hours in our Lord’s presence and then conclude with benediction.

—Two weeks from now, our monthly Jesus by Candlelight adoration liturgies will begin. These evenings with our Lord are beautiful, transcendent, and intimate. Jesus is surrounded by candlelight, there is song and silence, and reconciliation is also available. If you have never come to JBC, consider coming into his presence for this hour. It is time well spent and He is worth it! Finally, even if our Lord is not exposed in the monstrance, know he is always present in the tabernacle and waiting for us!
