The varsity track team competed in Regional action Wednesday and Friday in Tiffin.  Jaunna Gase earned a return trip to the State track meet with a 4th place finish in the high hurdles.  Jaunna also scored points with a 6th place finish in the long jump and a 7th place finish in the low hurdles.  Dillon Rickard made finals in the shot put and finished ninth with a personal record toss of 50 feet 4 3/4 inches.  Mark Berton finished 13th in a tough 3200 meter run field, and Brad Kitzler concluded an outstanding high school track career with a 15th place finish in the 200. 

Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding season and good luck to Jaunna at State!


The varsity track team completed its District performances Saturday with 4 athletes moving on to Regional competition, led by Jaunna Gase's 1st place performance in the high hurdles.  Jaunna added a 2nd in the long jump and a 3rd in the low hurdles to qualify for 3 events.  Dillon Rickard scored a 2nd place finish in the shot, Brad Kitzler moved on with a 4th in the 200, along with Mark Berton with a 4th in the 3200.  Narrowly missing berths in the Regionals were Jaunna Gase with a 5th in the 100, Anna Iannantuono with a 5th in the 1600, and the boys 4 x 100 team of JJ Hrabak, Justin Hammer, Lucas Holman, & Brad Kitzler also scoring 5th.  Scoring a 6th for the boys were the 4 x 400 team of JJ Hrabak, Cory Baker, Dylan Kitchen, and Brad Kitzler.  Rounding out the scoring were Lucas Holman with an 8th in the high hurdles & Brad Kitzler with an 8th in the 100.  Overall, the boys finished in a tie for 10th out of 16 teams with 27 points, the girls were 11th out of 17 teams with 32 points.  The team moves on to Regional competition in Tiffin, with Jaunna and Brad running in semi-finals Wednesday and the team running Friday in finals.  Good luck Mohawks!



The varsity team opened the first night of District competition at Eastwood with some outstanding performances.  Moving on to Regional competition next week will be Dillon Rickard, who placed second in the shot put finals.  Advancing to Saturday's final day of District competition for the girls were Jaunna Gase in the high hurdles, low hurdles and the 100 and Michelle Herman in the 200.  For the boys, Lucas Holman will run Saturday in the high hurdles, Brad Kitzler in the 100 & 200, the 4 x 100 team of JJ Hrabak, Justin Hammer, Lucas Holman & Brad Kitzler, & the 4 x 400 team of JJ Hrabak, Cory Baker, Dylan Kitchen, and Brad Kitzler.  The team will conclude District competition Saturday at Eastwood, good luck and we hope more will be competing next week at Regional competition in Tiffin!

The varsity track team competed in the MAL track championships Saturday in Tiffin.  The girl's team scored 41 points to finish in a 7th place tie with Hopewell.  Leading the Lady Mohawks was Jaunna Gase with firsts in both hurdle races and the long jump.   Anna Iannantuono finished 7th in the 1600, with Lindsey Marugg adding a 7th in the discus..  All 4 ladies relay teams placed, with the 4 x 100 team of Gase, Wolfe, Bechtel, and Herman finishing 6th.  The 4 x 200 relay team of St. Clair, Bechtel, Ressler, and Herman finished 7th.  The 4 x 800 relay team of Lucio, Meyers-Macias, Iannantuono, and St. Clair finished 8th, as did the 4 x 400 relay team of Lucio, Wolfe, Iannantuono, and St. Clair. 


The boy's team finished 10th with 30 points in a tight field behind Seneca East.  Dillon Rickard led the boys with a 3rd place finish in the shot.  Lucas Holman placed in both hurdle races with a 4th in the highs and a fifth in the lows.  Mark Berton placed 4th in the 3200, with Brad Kitzler adding a 6th place finish in the 200.  The 4 x 100 team of Hrabak, Hammer, Holman, and Kitzler finished 5th, the 4 x 400 team of Hrabak, Baker, Eibner, and Kitzler placed 7th. The 4 x 800 team of Kitchen, Campbell, Baker, and Berton finished 8th.  Justin Ball became the first St. Wendelin athlete to compete in the pole vault in 4 years, clearing 10 feet and just missing a place in the scoring.  Both teams open district action at Eastwood on Thursday, congratulations to our MAL athletes!

The varsity track team competed on a windy Saturday in the Fremont Invitational versus a Division I loaded field.  The girl's team scored 33 points and finished 7th out of 9 teams, led by Jaunna Gase's 1st's in the low & high hurdles and the long jump.  Lindsey Marugg added a 5th in the discus and Meghan St. Clair a 6th in the 400.  The boy's team scored 8 points in a 10th place finish, led by Dillon Rickard's 4th place finish in the shot.  Lucas Holman added a 5th in the low hurdles, both the 4 x 200 relay team of Hrabak, Cochie, Shontz, and Eibner and the 4 x 1600 team of Foss, Baker, Kitchen and Berton finished with 6th places.  The team is in action Saturday in Tiffin at the MAL championships, wish them luck!


The varsity track teams competed in the NWOCSA meet Thursday night in Sandusky with both teams finishing 5th in the 7 team fields.  The boys scored 71 points, led by Dillon Rickard's first place in the shot.  Lucas Holman added a pair of seconds in the hurdle races, 3rd's were taken by Rickard in the discus, Cory Baker in the 800, Mark Berton in the 3200, and the 4 x 800 relay team of Foss, Kitchen, Baker, & Berton.  4ths were taken by Brad Kitzler in the 200, JJ Hrabak in the 400, the 4 x 100 team of Hrabak, Hammer, Holman, & Kitzler, and the 4 x 200 team of Hrabak, Hammer, Shontz, and Eibner.  5th's were taken by Kitzler in the 100 &  Dylan Kitchen in the 800, 6ths by Seamus Gatrell in the discus and the 4 x 400 relay team of Kitzler, Hrabak, Eibner, and Shontz.


The girls scored 58 points, led by Jaunna Gase's firsts in both hurdle races and the long jump.  3rd's were taken by Lindsay Marugg in the discus and the 4 x 100 team of Gase, Wolfe, Bechtel, and Herman.  4th's were taken by Anna Iannantuono in the 1600, the 4 x 200 team of Lucio, Ressler, Bechtel, and Herman, the 4 x 400 team of Lucio, Wolfe, Iannantuono, and St. Clair, and the 4 x 800 team of Lucio, Meyers-Macias, Iannantuono, and St. Clair.  Both teams return to action Saturday at the Fremont Invitational.

 


The varsity track team competed on a cool and rainy Friday night versus 10 other teams at the Gibsonburg Invitational.  The boys team finished 7th overall, led by Dillon Rickard's first place in the shot put, Dillon added a 6th place in the discus.  Brad Kitzler finished 4th in the 200 & Mark Berton 4th in the 3200, Lucas Holman had a 4th in the low hurdles and 5th in the high hurdles.  5ths were taken by the 4 x 800 relay team of Kitchen, Foss, Baker, and Berton &  the 4 x 100 team of Hrabak, Hammer, Holman, and Kitzler,  The girls team finished 10th, led by Jaunna Gase's first in the long jump and Lindsay Marugg's 2nd in the discus.  Anna Iannantuono took 4th in the 1600, 5th place was taken by the girls 4 x 800 relay team of Lucio, Meyers-Macias, Iannantuono, and St. Clair, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Wolfe, Lucio, Iannantuono, and St. Clair added a 6th place finish.  The team will be in action Thursday night at the Northwest Ohio Catholic Schools meet in Sandusky. 


The varsity track team has a strong showing at the Fostoria Booster Invitational over the weekend, both teams finishing 5th in the 8 team fields.  Leading the boys was Dillon Rickard with a first in the shot put, Lucas Holman with a 2nd in the low hurdles, 3rd in the high hurdles, & a 6th place tie in the high jump, the 4 x 100 relay team 3rd (Hrabak, Hammer, Holman, Kitzler), Brad Kitzler 4th in the 200 & 5th in the 100, the 4 x 400 relay team 4th (Hrabak, Kitchen, Shontz, Kitzler), the 4 x 800 relay team 4th (Kitchen, Campbell, Baker, Berton), Mark Berton 5th in the 1600 & 3200, Cory Baker 5th & Dylan Kitchen 6th in the 800,  

Jaunna Gase led the girls with firsts in the high & low hurdles and the long jump.  Jaunna's high hurdle time of 15.1 set a school and meet record.  The 4 x100 relay team (Gase, Wolfe, Bechtel, Herman) took 2nd, Rachael Buhrow with a third place tie in the high jump, the 4 x 200 relay team 4th (Lucio, Ressler, Bechtal, Herman), the 4 x 400 team 4th (Wolfe, Lucio, Iannantuono, St. Clair), & the  4 x 800 team 5th (Lucio, Meyers-Macias, Iannantuono, St. Clair).  Both teams are in action Tuesday in Carey.

Despite absences due to injury to several key athletes, the varsity track teams had a strong showing in a quad meet with Fostoria High, Hopewell-Loudon, and North Baltimore.  The boy's team ended up tied for 2nd with Fostoria High behind Hopewell.  Leading the boy's were Lucas Holman with firsts in both hurdle races and a part of the winning 400 relay team with JJ Hrabak, Justin Hammer, and Brad Kitzler.  Adding firsts were Dillon Rickard in the shot and Mark Berton in the 3200.  Second places were taken by Justin Hammer, Brad Kitzler, and the 4 x 800 relay team.  The girls scored 34 points in a 4th place effort, 2nds were taken by Anna Iannantuono, Rachael Buhrow, Lindsay Marugg, and the 4 x 800 relay team.  Both teams will be in action Saturday at the Stadium for the Fostoria Athletic Booster Invitational.


McComb/New Riegel

The varsity track team opened their season Tuesday at the Stadium versus New Reigel and McComb.  The boy's team won the meet, scoring 88 points to New Reigel's 55 and McComb's 20.  The girl's team scored  47 points, finishing second behind McComb's 73.5 points and ahead of New Reigel's 44.5.  1st places for the boys were taken by Brandon Reinhart in the high jump, the 4 x 100 relay team of Hrabak, Williams, Holman, and Kitzler, the 4 x 400 relay team of Hrabak, Kitchen, Baker, and Kitzler, Lucas Holman in the high hurdles, Brad Kitzler in the 100 & 200 dashes, Cory Baker in the 800, Mark Berton in the 3200, and Dillon Rickard in the shot and the disc.  Taking firsts  for the girls were Rachael Buhrow in the high jump, the 4 x 100 relay team of Gase, Wolfe, Bechtel, & Herman, the 4 x 800 team of Iannantuono, Meyers-Macias, Lucio, & St. Clair, and Jaunna Gase in the low and high hurdles and the long jump.
