ACT -  A college entrance exam.  It assesses high school students’ general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.  ACT is given on national test dates and at ACT test sites in various local cities.  The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.  The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.  Recommended students take during second semester of the junior year.  Test may be taken more than once.

OGT – The Ohio Ninth-Grade Proficiency Tests are being phased out and replaced with the new Ohio Graduation Tests to ensure that students are armed with the knowledge they need in this global economy to be successful in the work force and higher education.  The new tests are aligned to Ohio’s new academic content standards, which were adopted by the State Board of Education in English language arts (reading and writing), mathematics, science, and social studies.  Sophomores in March 2005 (class of 2007) are the first class required to pass all five tests to graduate.
