GREETINGS!

We grow ever closer to the end of another school year. The sun and nice weather has given all of us the boost we need to finish strong. Many positive events took place during the last few weeks of April. We have been blessed when it comes to our Faith formation. There was special coverage on channels 11 and 13 when our students prepared to see Pope Benedict in New York. One week later, Bishop Blair came to celebrate Mass and blessed our new peace poles. Our high school, junior high, and elementary students were able to share this community experience as they paired up enjoy Mass, a walk with the Bishop, and lunch at the high school. It was a great experience to have our older students being a role model to the younger grades. Thank you to all who work hard to give our students opportunities to expand and grow in their faith at St. Wendelin. This is only possible when everyone works together and Christ is at the center of what we do on a daily basis.

Congratulations are in order for our Art students that have been doing well at different art shows in the surrounding area. Our spring sports athletes that have been working hard this season and would love to have you come out and cheer them on before the end of the season. You can get a schedule on our website for dates and times.

Deacon Kishore has started the Krespe Society. This is an opportunity for people to pray together for vocations as well as searching for their own calling. All students, faculty, and parents are welcome to attend on Friday mornings, from 7:00-7:30 am, in the chapel.

There has been a generous donation to the Schools to upgrade our security, of which we are grateful. We have been working on safety drills that are required by the state such as fire, tornado, and lock downs. We pray these situations do not occur, but must be prepared to react quickly and safely. If there is ever a situation at school, parents will be contacted immediately through WFOB, e-mail and phone calls, to let them know what is happening. This also is a good time for your families to review family procedures to have things in place in the event you cannot reach each other during emergencies.

Even though grades 7-12 were restructured, we feel it is important to carry on the tradition of 8 th grade graduation for one last year. Our 7 th graders had the honor of a ceremony last year, which is something we started new. As we move forward in our 7-12 th grade setting, we will begin new traditions next year for our 8 th graders that will involve the school.

Some other small changes include the under classmen remaining for the rest of the day after the Honor’s Assembly. This year it will run a bit shorter, as the senior video we will be viewed after the Baccalaureate. Everyone is invited to come to this Mass and stay for the reception afterwards where the video will be played. A senior breakfast is scheduled on the morning of the Honor’s Assembly and the seniors will have a chance to sign memories to each other then.

As always, thank you for your support of St. Wendelin schools.
