WORLD HISTORY
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Sister Mary Elayne, SND
2006-2007
Class Materials:
Students are required to bring to each class:
Not having these will result in a detention.
Classroom Behavior:
Behavior is expected to be in accordance with the Code of Behavior given in the Student Handbook.
We respect one another and provide time and place where each student can learn.
Homework:
Normally, students should spend 30 minutes on History homework.
Enrichment:
In each handout there are suggested Enrichment Activities or Research. Students are encouraged to choose one of these occasionally in a way that will foster a love of History. It is most interesting if the results can be shared with the class. Enrichment work should be handed in at the same time as the corresponding homework and quiz.
Extra-credit is given based on the quality of the student’s work.
Absence from class:
Students who are absent from class are expected to contact the teacher for the missed lesson so that when they return to class, they are prepared for the new lesson.
Missed Tests /
Quizzes
Students are expected to come to the teacher as soon as possible saying that
Missed tests and quizzes are administered at 7:40 a.m. and at 2:40 p.m.
They should be taken before the corrected tests are returned to the rest of the class.
Grading Procedure:
All grades are based on 100%.
Usually a homework assignment is worth about 1/3 of the grade. The corresponding quiz or test is about 2/3 of the grade.
The student’s average is based entirely on the quiz/chapter test-homework combinations of the respective quarter of the year.
Tutorial or Small
Group Help:
Sr. Elayne or Mrs. Bowerman are the best tutors, if a student needs one, because they know what specific help the student needs. As soon as a student’s grades fall into the D category, the student is required to stay for help on Monday and Wednesday from 2:40-3:30.
Any student is welcome to come for extra help at any time.
