CRAFTS SYLLABUS

 

 

CRAFTS is a one-semester course open to seniors, and it has no prerequisite.  Most projects are three-dimensional.  As homework, students research the history of the Arts and Crafts Movement, which we then review in class.

 

SYLLABUS

 

Quarter 1

Ceramic Masks or Mugs  (3 weeks)

          Power Point Slide Show of four types of masks

                   Drama/Theatrical

                   Ceremonial/Worship/Festival

                   Disguise/Costumes

                   Death/Burial

                  

          Create a mask or mug with a face

Airbrush a T-Shirt

Hand Made Paper

          Make at least three sheets of paper

          Use paper for a collage or a book

Stenciling

          Stencil on paper, using a commercial stencil

          Cut your own stencil to decorate an object of your choice

Jewelry Making

          Beadweaving or stringing

          Copper Enameling

 

Quarter 2

Mobile or Stabile

          Study the work of Alexander Calder

          Create a mobile or stabile using items you create

Woven basket

Wood Carving
