Course
Description:
The principal goal of this course is to develop an understanding of the structures and functions of the human body. The course is designed to prepare students for further study in a medical or allied health field, as well as those students desiring to learn more about the human body. The course begins at the atomic level and progresses through the specialization of life forms. Our goals include:
· the awareness and appreciation of the human body.
· knowledge of systems and the importance of homeostasis.
· knowledge of and ability to use the scientific method as related to research.
· the ability to use critical thinking skills.
Purpose
& Scope:
We will begin with an orientation of the body and a
review of basic chemistry, then investigate and study the human body system by
system. Along the way we will discuss
career opportunities, current research and challenges to maintaining health.

Anatomy
and Physiology Coloring Workbook.
Notebook,
paper, pen or pencil for note-taking.
Shirt
or apron for labs.
Grading:
Assessments
will include classroom participation, tests, quizzes, laboratory participation,
lab reports, and homework. Academic
requirements and grading procedures are detailed in the handbook.
