Special Services

 
St. Wendelin Elementary School participates in programs funded by the State of Ohio that enable the school to meet Minimum Standards or provide needed benefits and services to students. These Auxiliary Services secured through state funding include the following:

School Nurse

The nurse serves our preschool, elementary, junior high and high school. She is available throughout the day to serve our students' health needs.

Psychologist

The school psychologist is employed through the Fostoria Community Schools and serves St. Wendelin Schools upon request.

Speech and Language Pathologist

The speech and language pathologist is employed part time serving those students diagnosed with special needs in this area.

Remedial Reading Teacher - Elementary

Our remedial reading teacher works with students in the elementary building having special reading needs.

Remedial Teacher - Jr. High

This part time teacher works with students in the middle grades on study and homework helps. The program currently operates during academic assist and after school.

Enrichment Education

St. Wendelin Abilities Network (SWAN) is a program that challenges all children to use their abilities to enrich their own lives and to work for the betterment of society. Children who are invited to participate in this program are those students recommended by the classroom teacher and those with documented abilities in the top 5% nationally in one or more academic areas.

Jr. High enrichment is offered in the area of Mathematics. Those high performing students in the area of math are offered the opportunity to take an advanced math class.
