Planned Giving

There are many giving options available to donors to the St. Wendelin Schools Educational Foundation. By carefully planning your gift, you can enjoy the satisfaction of giving during your lifetime and receive substantial tax savings. Planning your gift may also enable you to make a larger gift than you might otherwise be able to make.

The Diocese of Toledo has established a program entitled "Faith in the Future: Making a Planned Gift," to assist in creating an awareness of the benefits of planned giving.. A part of this effort is the Faith in the Future Society, which registers and recognizes those who have remembered St. Wendelin in their estate plans. Thirty-four thoughtful donors have informed us of their estate plans including St. Wendelin Parish and/or Schools.

If you have included St. Wendelin in your estate plans and would consider membership in the Faith in the Future Society, please contact Mary Anne Nopper in the Development Office (419-435-8144).

CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a planned giving vehicle offered through the Diocese of Toledo, through which the Diocese will pay you a guaranteed fixed income for life in return for your charitable gift to St. Wendelin Parish or to St. Wendelin Schools.  The annuity can be set up over a period of one or two lifetimes – one of which is the donor’s – at a percentage rate established at the start.  Because the agreement is between the donor and the diocese, the diocese is responsible for maintaining the annuity payments.

The gift annuity is an excellent way to help the schools and the parish fulfill their mission to pass on the faith, and ensure a fixed income for life.  Even though a gift annuity is a legal agreement between a donor and a charitable organization, it is void of the legal complexities associated with trusts.

The minimum age for participation in this program is 60 years of age and minimum value for participation is $10,000.  The rate of return you receive depends on your age at the time of your gift.  If you are married, your spouse can also be guaranteed the same fixed income for his/her life.  Because a charitable gift is involved, the annuity rates offered by the Diocese will be lower than those available through commercial annuities offered by insurance companies and other financial institutions.  You can be assured of receiving the same annual income from the Diocese on a quarterly basis no matter what happens to the stock market or interest rates.
